Description
MORO Pasta, an ancient tradition of Valtellina which has been handed down from father to son for 5 generations. A century and a half of quality.
The Chiavenna pasta factory was born as a mill and pasta factory in 1868 in the center of Chiavenna along the Mera river. The waters of the river were exploited to produce the energy necessary to operate both the millstones and the machinery for the production of Made in Italy pasta. The old mill, after being restored, has become an interesting industrial archeology museum, which can be visited every day and is managed by the Valchiavenna Tourist Consortium. At the end of the 1960s, the Chiavenna pasta factory moved to its current headquarters on the outskirts of Chiavenna. Since the 1960s, alongside the traditional production of durum wheat semolina pasta, we have added the production of the Valtellina specialties Pizzoccheri, which in this way have "come out" of the strictly local sphere and, through large-scale distribution, are today known and appreciated in all Italian regions and abroad. Also in that period, we obtained authorization from the Ministry of Health for the production of dietetic pasta, i.e. pasta with different requirements from traditional pasta. Since then, our business has increasingly specialized in the production of gluten-free pasta, Baby Food pasta for children and other dietetic pastas.
